Internet Explorer 11 is inbuilt feature in windows 8 and
Windows 8.1. There is no separate installer required for it. Since it is one of
the windows inbuilt features, it can be enabled or disabled from Windows
Features on and off.
Causes
However, Internet Explorer (IE) sometimes will get crash. IE
crash may happen due to below reasons.
- Unexpected reboot during installation or un-installation.
- When external application trying to change the registry. (Normally this will happen while user trying to install freeware)
- While installing not supported version of IE.
Symptoms
Due to application
crash following issues would be faced by the user.
- Internet explorer cannot be launched
- System will get hang after IE invoked.
- While connecting with data card / modem system performances extremely will go very low
- User cannot change any settings from internet options
- Internet options would be disabled / grayed off
- Following screenshot depicts above said problem.
User can solve above problem by deleting the current changes
in IE / settings. This will reset all the IE settings and will give fresh look
as first logged in.
Before deleting the setting, user requested to create restore
point and take a backup of OS. This will help to recovery the OS if anything
goes wrong during this task.
